5 Packing Tips for Your Thanksgiving Road Trip

With the Thanksgiving holiday coming up, most of us will hit the road and head to our families for a feast. As excited as you might be to eat some pie, you're probably not looking forward to packing for your travels. Due to the procrastination to load the car, most people tend to fill our luggage and car way more than they need. It takes patience and some skill to efficiently and effectively load your vehicle, and we are here to provide you with the tips to do so!

Tip #1: Clean Out Your Car

Before you pack or leave for your trip, you must start by cleaning out your vehicle. This step involves removing everything from the cabin and trunk that you don't need for the course of the trip. That camping gear you might've had from the summer? You kids' sporting equipment? These items can all stay in your house as you probably won't need them for Thanksgiving.

Tip #2: Get Started Early

It's always wise to pack in advance. If you can get all your items packed away, you can simply load your car the night before you have to leave. Then you can enjoy a stress-free departure!

Tip #3: Soft Baggage > Hard Luggage

Soft luggage, such as duffle bags, totes, fabric luggage, is highly preferred if you want to maximize your trunk area. Hard-case baggage can take up more room and restrict the space you can work with.

Tip #4: Avoid Cramming Stuff In

If the things don't budge, don't try to cram it in. If you try to pack too much, it might block the driver's line of sight. The driver needs a clear view from all points of the car.

Tip #5: Pack An Emergency Bag

Please make sure you have extra room for your emergency items. Your kit should include jumper cables, tools, flashlight, batteries, first aid kit, drinking water, and nonperishable food. You never know what can happen on the highway.

We hope these tips help make your pre-trip planning a seamless experience—your safety matters to us, whether you are in or out of our shop. Our experienced technicians can give you a full-point pre-trip inspection to ensure your vehicle is in tip-top shape for highway travels.
